Studio MarieClaire was founded by Irish creative Marie-Claire Whelan, whose work is shaped by a lifelong love of fashion, art and design.
Creativity has always been part of Marie-Claire's world. She comes from a family of designers and entrepreneurs, with both her nana and father having worked in fashion. Growing up around that world instilled an appreciation for beautiful materials, thoughtful design and the craft behind a finished piece from an early age. Today, fashion and art continue to be a constant source of inspiration, informing the way she sees colour, proportion, typography, texture and detail.
For Marie-Claire, calligraphy is more than beautiful handwriting. It is craftsmanship, precision and a dedication to detail. A traditional art form reimagined and modernised.
Her approach is deliberately restrained. She is drawn to the quiet confidence of considered design: beautiful proportions, exceptional materials and details that don't need to shout to make an impression. Every piece is approached as an individual artwork, with an uncompromising level of care, precision and creativity.
With a background in digital imaging and design, followed by a career spanning fashion, luxury, PR and events, Marie-Claire has worked across some of the industry's most recognised names, including Chanel, Moët Hennessy, Diageo and Harvey Nichols. She went on to establish Studio MarieClaire, developing a practice that brings together calligraphy, bespoke stationery, live personalisation and creative design.
Today, her London-based studio works with luxury brands, fashion houses and private clients across a range of projects, from live brand activations and campaign work to bespoke stationery, invitations, gifting and special commissions.
Her work has been trusted by longstanding clients including Prada, Miu Miu, Chanel, Vogue, Bottega Veneta, Mytheresa x Tom Ford and Simone Rocha, Harrods The Penthouse, Sculpted by Aimee and more.
